AUSTEN
WARBURTON
AWARD |
The AUSTEN D. WARBURTON PIONEER
AWARD is given each year to someone who has served both the Pioneers
and the community well. Board Policy #31 says:
"The Board of Directors should confer annually- as long
as a qualifying recipient can be found-the Austen D. Warburton
Pioneer Award. This Award should be granted for outstanding service
to the community as well as the Pioneers."
The Pioneer Award was established in 1987 during the presidency
of Edward Allegretti. Austen Warburton was proposed as the first
recipient but Austen said Clyde Arbuckle should get the first
award, so Clyde became the first recipient and Austen,
the second.
In 1995, the award was renamed the Austen D. Warburton Pioneer
Award to honor Austen, who consistently set the standard for
service to the community and for service to the Pioneers.
